1. To set up avenues and platforms that will enable the sustainable development of Akirika Uku, Umuigubeachara autonomous community.
2. To provide implementable advice to various organs of governance in Akirika Uku.
3. To drive human capacity development for the community.
4. To propel cultural development and tourism in Akirika Uku.
5. To support education and civic responsibility in Akirika Uku.
6. To promote peace, inclusiveness, and infrastructural development of the community.

About ATG
ATG is an independent advisory group that promotes culture, education, development, and civic responsibility in Akirika Uku, Umuigubeachara Autonomous Community in Ukwa East LGA, Abia State. Akirika Uku is an Ndoki community situated along Aba Opobo road between km 8 and km 27 along a federal trunk A road that links Aba in Abia State to Opobo in Rivers State. Akirika Uku is a boundary town, sharing boundaries with Akwa Ibom in the East and Obingwa in the West and Northern parts. It is blessed with a pristine blue river that traverses the entire length of its Southern boundary, connecting it to the neighboring town of Azumini. The community is largely an Agricultural place, blessed abundantly with vast arable farmland, and also produces a famous dry gin known as Akirika Gin. The Akirika Gin is brewed from fermented palm wine. Akirika people are peace-loving and very cultural.
Akirika Uku has two sister communities known as Akirika Obu and Akirika Nta, both communities form the Umuigubeachara Autonomous Community.Akirika Uku is ruled by His Royal Highness Eze Samuel Ikechi Nwosu, the Mpanaka of Umuigubeachara.
Akirika Uku is situated along Aba-Opobo road, spanning about 23 km along this federal trunk A road. The Aba Opobo Road starts from Opobo Junction in Ogborhill, Aba. The road connects three States: Abia, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers. The geography of Akirika Uku is beautiful, with nearly flat arable farmlands, with a green zone between Akpa and Akirika Uku. Akirika is an Ndoki community as shown in the map above. The entire southern border of Akirika Uku is the Blue River that connects Azumini, another Ndoki community. The Akirika Blue River is a freshwater with a lot of tourist activities. Akirika Uku Post code is 452106. Akirika Uku is 45 minutes from Uyo Airport, about 105 minutes from Port-Harcourt, and 120 minutes from Owerri Airport.
Akirika Blue River is about 23 km in the entire southern border of Akirika , its an enjoyable tourist destination.

Nwaegbede is one of the cultural masquerades in Akirika. It is one of the events that take place before a new farming season. Youths participate in cultural dances, arranged in their various age grades.

Our Projects
Supporting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation initiatives: Akirika Uku has vast arable farmland that grows crops such as cassava, fluted pumpkin, maize corn, palm trees, and yam. It grows a lot of vegetables. The agricultural sector is transitioning from subsistence farming to mechanized agriculture.
Investments and Industries
Akirika Uku is very receptive to investments and industries. The community encourages investors to bring in industries. Akirika Uku is a 9-minute drive to Aba, a 45-minute drive to Uyo, and about 1 and 1-and-a-half-hour drive to Port Harcourt. It enjoys a federal trunk A road. It has good security and very friendly and hardworking people.
Akirika Gin: This is a locally distilled gin of the finest quality. It is distilled from fermented palm wine using unique basic chemistry techniques, practiced for over 200 years in this community. The gin industry is located along the fresh belt closer to the banks of the Akirika Blue River.
Electricity Project
Powering Progress: The Ovom-Akirika Electricity Project, envisioned for a brighter tomorrow. This 12 km, 33 KVA electricity lifeline, connecting Akirika to the Ovom Substation, is a beacon of progress, set to launch on 30th March 2024. With a crucial financial boost of 40 million naira, thanks to our illustrious sons and daughters in their free will donations, this project stands as a testament to their commitment to community transformation. As we count down to its commissioning, anticipate a thriving era of industrial and agricultural advancements, powered by a steady stream of electricity, igniting opportunities and energizing lives in Akirika

Community Development
ATG activities are focused on revitalizing both the Primary and Secondary schools in the community. It will build more school blocks, help fund teachers, and get functional libraries and labs. It will also in registering WAEC exams for indigent students.
ATG is also helping in financially supporting University students from Akirika and mentoring graduates to make them employable.
ATG encourages cultural events, promoting local delicious foods, assisting in organizing cultural events, and preserving cultural buildings and heritage. It also engages in promoting local language, dressing and community cohesion.
We work on community development projects to improve the quality of life. Our current projects include: a. Townhall renovation, b. Electricity project, c. Reviving both Primary and Secondary Schools, d. Revitalizing the Akirika Market, e. Creating Education and Security Trust funds.

Nwaotam is a famous cultural masquerade in Akirika Uku, Ndoki. It is celebrated twice a year: 25th December and 1st January. Over 100,000 celebrants participate annually in this cultural dance. Three main cultural dance groups accompany the Nwaotam: a. Ejesilem, b. Ukemkpa and c. I have no time.
